The Public Safety Committee

During our
Council Meeting last night (Thursday, February 2nd) we adopted
ordinances to annex 40 parcels of property into the City Limits of
Semmes! These properties were from petitions of property
owners who wanted to join the City and whose property was
"contiguous" to the City boundaries. The
properties totaled approximately 300 acres and increased the size
of our City by nearly 14%.

City Hall Renovation
Update
Just a quick update on the
progress.... all of the office walls are up and ready for trim and
then paint. We should be ready for the carpet and tile
flooring at the end of the week. So this week is going to be
pretty busy with all of the final construction going on.
Please call the office first to make sure that someone is there if
you plan on stopping by. There may be a few days that the
office may have to close early due to the construction.

At
the Special Council Meeting called by the Mayor, the Semmes City
Council voted and unanimously approved a resolution to
participate in the "Sales Tax Holiday" during
the first weekend in August. Passing this resolution means
that citizens who are shopping for certain school supplies,
computers and clothing, etc will not have to pay the
associated State,
County or City tax. For more information on the items
